Bugge Wesseltoft, musicien de jazz, pianiste, compositeur et producteur, est l’un des principaux acteurs musicaux, avec Nils Petter Molvaer notamment, qui ont fait évoluer le jazz nordique traditionnel vers un style novateur. Avec son label indépendant, Bugge Wesseltoft a favorisé l'éclosion d'une nouvelle scène musicale norvégienne. Le grand tournant de sa carrière s’effectue avec le premier CD de la New Conception of Jazz (NCOJ) en 1996 qui devient un classique du 'modern jazz' contemporain. Cette inspiration se reflète dans «  Sharing », une véritable œuvre de pionnier. C’est surtout l'album « Moving », publié en 2001 qui apporte la renommée internationale à Bugge qui est désormais invité dans les plus importants festivals du monde. Le pianiste norvégien n’a rien perdu de sa vision particulière du jazz contemporain. Après de maints projets ambitieux, Bugge revient vingt ans après revisiter et revitaliser son projet le plus audacieux, en s’assurant la collaboration de quatre musiciennes talentueuses.

Since the early 1990´s, the innovative keyboard player and composer Bugge Wesseltoft has made an impressive transition from his ECM nordic jazz traditions, when he was playing and recording together with Jan Garbarek, Sidsel Endresen, Terje Rypdal, Nils Petter Molvaer and Jon Eberson, to forming his own innovative New Conception Of Jazz group and his label Jazzland. The groundbreaking New Conception of Jazz became one of the leading representatives of electronic Jazz in the nineties. The ensemble of changing members led by Wesseltoft played concerts around the world and released five albums between 1996 and 2004. The Norwegian artist is going to mark the 20th anniversary of this milestone, one of the most exciting, daring and electrifying projects in jazz history, with a series of performances with a new quintet of young Norwegian female artists who are going to introduce “the new” New Conception of Jazz alongside Wesseltoft by performing new material, but also many compositions from the period when all began.
