Le premier album de Phronesis, « Alive » a été d’emblée élu album de jazz de l'année par les magazines Jazzwise et Mojo, et a propulsé le trio dans le peloton de tête des groupes de jazz actuels. Empreinte de sensibilité nordique, la musique de Phronesis est fraîche et exubérante. Le bassiste danois Jasper Høiby, le pianiste anglais Ivo Neame et le batteur suédois Anton Eger savent jouer de leur virtuosité sans pour autant paraître grandiloquents, et tiennent à leur identité jazzistique. Classique dans sa structure, Phronesis fonctionne comme un trio fondé sur un groove inspiré des musiques pop et hip hop associé à une approche très mélodique. L’égalité des interventions est une caractéristique fondamentale de Phronesis. Chacun des trois musiciens a la même importance, et chacun a ses moments privilégiés. Ce son collectif, dans lequel pourtant chaque instrument est perçu, est un acte conscient d’humilité et un exercice démocratique.

Scandinavian/British jazz trio Phronesis have the ability to excite, inspire and move people in a way that few bands are able to do. Formed by Danish double-bass player Jasper Høiby, their charismatic live performances have captured audiences worldwide and prompted Jazzwise Magazine to describe them as “the most exciting and imaginative piano trio since EST (Esbjörn Svensen Trio)” In April 2014, they released their fifth album ‘Life To Everything’ to huge critical acclaim from the international press. The energy and individuality of Phronesis comes from a complete democracy of expression and intuitive empathy between the musicians. The three outstanding artists come together to create a propulsive groove-driven sound that is utterly accessible despite its underlying complexity.
