L’extraordinaire trompettiste norvégien Arve Henriksen est connu pour le son lyrique incomparable qu'il obtient de son instrument, et pour son style unique, mélange de cultures et d'expériences jazz, classique, ambient, remix folk et underground. La sonorité étrange et distinctive de sa trompette est proche du son de la flûte japonaise shakuhachi. Sa musique est évocatrice de paysages et visuelle, telle la bande son d'un film imaginaire, avec une emphase sur la mélodie et les atmosphères. Leader du groupe mythique et expérimental Supersilent, Arve Henriksen se consacre progressivement à ses projets personnels avec la complicité de l’indispensable Jan Bang, s’appuyant sur la guitare imprévisible de Stian Westerhus et la rythmique poignante d’Ingar Zach. Si l’influence de Jan Garbarek est indéniable, un impact plus sensible encore se fait remarquer dans les collaborations de Henriksen avec Jon Hassell et David Sylvian. Il joue régulièrement avec beaucoup d’autres musiciens dont l’univers musical lui est proche : Nils Petter Molvaer, Erik Honoré, Jon Balke, Arild Andersen, Misha Alperin, Dhafer Youssef, Eivind Aarset e.a.

With his new album » Places Of Worship », Arve Henriksen moves into the front rank of world class musicians. The great Norwegian trumpet player has made his marks in the famous experimental group Supersilent, and with his distinctive solo work . « In my opinion, the trumpet has vast potential for tone and sound variations that we still have not heard. » says Henriksen, whose fascination for the meditative and expressive quality of the Japanese shakuhachi flute had him work in a new direction. Recently he has been focusing on his voice which he treats like an eerie instrument, with dazzling results. The musical spheres Jan Bang works in, revolve around such luminaries as Jon Hassell, David Sylvian, Nils Petter Molvaer and Arve Henriksen. His creative thrust and pioneering work in developing the concept of live remix- improvising with electronics makes him a dream partner for innovative projects. Stian Westerhus is a guitarist with an enviable technique and a vast creative imagination. He is also emerging as one of the most important improvisers working today. Ingar Zach regularily plays in the ensembles of Arve Henriksen and Jan Bang. He is one of the leading percussionists from Norway, known for the wide range of sounds he uses.
