JOACHIM KÜHN NEW TRIO feat. ENRICO RAVA

Joachim Kühn is one of the great piano virtuosos of our time. His playing defies all categorization, and has earned him a place as a world class musician. He has already left his mark on contemporary jazz and given it a new direction. He displays vehemence and sensibility, a virtuoso technique and an unfailing sense of dynamics. For his new album “Beauty & Truth”, he reaches out into unfamiliar repertoire, and recorded twelve pieces with a new trio. There are strong melodies which can be given a really distinctive shape, able to unlock a whole musical cosmos. A different Joachim Kühn can be heard on this record. His piano playing is amazingly powerful and clear, and musically he has a way of going straight to the heart of the matter. He is solidly grounded in the groove, he plays with unconfined joy and with plenty of soul. The piercing yet warm sound of the trumpet of famous Italian jazzman Enrico Rava creates an unexpected and powerful counterpoint to Joachim Kühn’s bold style.
