MAXIME BENDER AWAKE 4TET FEAT. JOACHIM KÜHN 

Joachim Kühn est l'un des pianistes de jazz les plus célèbres et reste une des grandes figures de la musique actuelle. Son exceptionnelle maîtrise technique, sa virtuosité, évoquent Franz Liszt, mais son chant intérieur, sa densité, sa passion, ramènent à John Coltrane. Son jeu est complexe, il aboutit à un torrent de notes d'un lyrisme et d'une inspiration de tous les instants. Le saxophoniste Maxime Bender a tenté  un pas décisif de plus en dehors des sentiers battus du jazz d’aujourd’hui.  Il vise une communication musicale directe et instantanée, toujours à la recherche d'un flux illimité d'énergie créatrice. Pour Jazzmachine Maxime Bender a formé un nouveau quartet avec son compagnon de route Oliver Lutz et le batteur luxembourgeois Pit Dahm. Leur résidence musicale avec Joachim Kühn est la réalisation d’une occasion inespérée, un jalon dans la carrière d’un musicien de jazz luxembourgeois.

Joachim Kühn is one of the great piano virtuosos of our time. Although he has reached the highest stage of musical maturity, he remains nonetheless open for new encounters. His playing defies all categorization, and has earned him a place as a world class musician. He has already left his mark on contemporary jazz and given it a new direction. He displays vehemence and sensibility, a virtuoso technique and imagination and an unfailing sense of dynamics. The saxophonist Maxime Bender is one of the most versatile Luxembourgish jazz musicians. He likes to experiment, take bold steps and definitely move away from the typical jazz routine, transforming his material into something fresher, freer, newer and more exciting, He  opens up new spaces of direct and instant musical communication, always aiming for a totally uninhibited flow of creative energy. Our residency offers the unique chance to collaborate with a famous musician and realize a new project called Awake Quartet.
