NATHALIE LORIERS TRIO

Enseignante très demandée, pianiste du prestigieux Brussels Jazz Orchestra, Nathalie Loriers vient de sortir un nouvequ disque en trio, le 2^e enregistré avec Tineke Postma. A la délicatesse du toucher et au tempérament lyrique, Nathalie Loriers sait aussi mêler un sens aigu du rythme dans des thèmes bebop. La saxophoniste hollandaise Tineke Postma, élève de Dave Liebman et diplômée de la Manhattan School of Music, a une discographie importante: des albums enregistrés e.a. avec Greg Osby, Terri Lyne Carrington, et Geri Allen. D'une sonorité fluide et large à l'alto, mêlant sens mélodique et force rythmique, elle fait preuve d'un son incisif et lyrique au soprano. Nicolas Thys est un contrebassiste qui a une longue expérience aux côtés des pianistes Kris Defoort, Ron Van Rossum ou Alexi Tuomarila, mais aussi l'Américain Bill Carrothers. Dans le nouvel album du trio, on trouve notamment une succession impressionnante de ballades poignantes gorgées d'émotion et de lyrisme mélodique. L’osmose entre les trois complices est totale et témoigne d’une réelle empathie, les musiciens se fondent dans leur musique tout en lui apportant énergie et tension.

Nathalie Loriers  is one of the foremost jazz pianists in Belgium. In 1999 she receives the Belgian Django d'Or and in 2000 the Euro Django Award as best "contemporary European jazz artist" as well as the Bobby Jaspar Prize. Nathalie Loriers has worked together with a large number of great musicians such as Philip Catherine, Toots Thielemans, Aldo Romano, Charlie Mariano, as well as playing in her own bands. Dutch saxophonist Tineke Postma made important recordings with a.o. Greg Osba, Terri Lyne Carrington and Geri Allen. With broad sound and rhythmical force, she responds to the crystalline notes of pianist Loriers. The bassist Nicolas Thys draws on his great experience with pianists like Alexi Tuomarila and Bill Carrothers.
